6 New Fords Coming for 2023

The current Ford lineup is filled with exciting vehicles––and it’s only getting better in 2023! If you plan to visit some Ford dealers in Cincinnati next year, you can expect to find some all-new 2023 models designed to take things to the next level. These include fully redesigned versions of the Ford Ranger midsize truck and the Ford Super Duty heavy-duty truck. We are also expecting the Blue Oval to unveil the long-awaited Raptor R, and we may just see the leaked Bronco Hybrid and Bronco Sport Hybrid join Ford’s lineup of fuel-efficient SUVs. Here at Kings Ford, we can’t wait to show these exciting new 2023 models to our Cincinnati customers!

#1 – 2023 Ford Ranger

Ford’s midsize truck may not have the fame of the best-selling F-Series, but it is still one of the most popular and most capable models in its segment. The Ranger is a particularly good fit for drivers in urban areas like Cincinnati because of its smaller size and more agile handling. The current generation of the Ranger arrived in America in 2019, but it actually first debuted in overseas markets back in 2011. After being in production for over a decade, Ford decided a full redesign was in order, and the 2023 Ford Ranger is ready to take the truck market by storm.

Although the American version of the 2023 Ranger hasn’t officially been revealed yet, the European version has already been announced and it looks amazing. The updated exterior styling is already enough to make this truck a must-buy, and the new cabin design will be appreciated by any driver. We expect to see a massive 12-inch touchscreen running Ford’s latest SYNC 4 infotainment technology, paired with a digital instrument cluster. The proven 2.3L EcoBoost engine and 10-speed automatic transmission will likely remain standard, giving the 2023 Ranger performance you can rely on.

#2 – 2023 Ford Super Duty

Another truck getting redesigned for 2023 is the Ford Super Duty. While the best-selling F-150 received a full makeover in 2021, the Super Duty hasn’t seen major changes since 2017. The new 2023 Super Duty will mirror the styling and features of the updated F-150, just in a bigger and more powerful package. Like the F-150, most of the major changes are found in the cabin, where we expect to see a standard 8-inch touchscreen and an optional 12-inch touchscreen, both running SYNC 4 for improved functionality and over-the-air updates. Ford’s hands-free BlueCruise technology will also likely make an appearance, which should be welcome news for anyone who spends a lot of time on I-275 or the other highways around Cincinnati.

There is still no word on what engines the 2023 Super Duty will offer, but we expect the 6.7L Power Stroke and the 7.3L Godzilla V8 will both make an appearance. Hopefully, Ford’s engineers will work their magic on the turbo-diesel and crank up output to 1,100 lb-ft of torque, allowing the 2023 Super Duty to offer best-in-class torque to complement the current model’s best-in-class towing and payload. There is also a chance that Ford will introduce a new hybrid power plant, similar to the 3.5L Power Boost in the F-150, giving the Super Duty a new level of power and efficiency.

#3 – 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor

If the 2023 Ranger excites you, but you want something with a bit more oomph than the old 2.3L EcoBoost engine, get ready to welcome the all-new 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor. The newest member of the growing Raptor family is rumored to hide a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 under its hood. This is the same engine found in the new Bronco Raptor, where it provides an earth-shaking 418 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. The 4×4 powertrain of the new Ranger Raptor is also expected to include front and rear locking differentials for maximum off-road performance.

While the full feature list has yet to be announced, we expect 33-inch all-terrain tires on beadlock-style wheels, enhanced suspension, and rugged skid plates to protect the truck. Ford’s new Trail Tool Box technology will also likely make an appearance, including features like Trail 1-Pedal Drive, Trail Turn Assist, and Trail Control. With all of these features and over 400 hp on tap, the 2023 Ranger Raptor is shaping up to be the most capable off-road midsize truck, bar none.

#4 – 2023 Ford Raptor R

With the addition of the redesigned 2021 F-150 Raptor, 2022 Bronco Raptor, and the 2023 Ranger Raptor, the Raptor family is growing fast––but the best is yet to come. The long-awaited Ford F-150 Raptor R is expected to join the family in 2023 and become the most powerful off-road truck ever built. While the 3.5L High-Output EcoBoost V6 engine in the standard F-150 Raptor already offers 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, the Raptor R will add two more cylinders and a supercharger. That’s right––the V8 is back!

It hasn’t yet been officially confirmed, but all signs point towards the 2023 Raptor R being powered by the same 5.2L Predator V8 engine that propels the Mustang Shelby GT500. It’s the most powerful engine Ford has ever built and produces 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque in the top-of-the-line pony car. In addition to this world-beating engine, the new Raptor R will have all the exclusive performance features of the standard F-150 Raptor, making it the ultimate off-road predator.

#5 – 2023 Ford Bronco Hybrid

If there are two trends that are dominating the auto industry right now, it’s off-roading and electrification. Ford is at the cutting edge of both, so why not combine them in a single model? The rumored 2023 Ford Bronco Hybrid would open up new possibilities for this highly capable off-road SUV. While Ford has yet to make any official statements about the Bronco Hybrid, leaks and spy photos make it clear that it’s a matter of “when” not “if” this model is coming. Hopefully, it will arrive in our Cincinnati showroom in 2023, but if not, it will almost certainly be here for 2024.

It still isn’t clear exactly what will power the Bronco Hybrid, but the 3.3L hybrid V6 engine out of the Ford Explorer looks like a strong possibility. This powertrain gets 25 MPG combined in the all-wheel drive 2022 Explorer Hybrid. Since the Bronco currently gets just 20 MPG combined, a hybrid powertrain would be a good step towards making this mighty off-roader a better fit for the streets of Cincinnati. And since the Explorer Hybrid has 318 hp, the Bronco Hybrid likely won’t be giving up any of its power to become more efficient.

#6 – 2023 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid

The smaller member of the Bronco family might already be an efficient commuter, but the rumor is that it might also be getting a hybrid version for 2023. Currently, the 2022 Bronco Sport is offered with either a 1.5L EcoBoost I-3 or a 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 engine––the same two options found in the closely-related Ford Escape. However, the 2022 Escape also offers the choice of a 2.5L I-4 as part of either a traditional hybrid or a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Either or both of these two electrified options could make their way to the 2023 Bronco Sport Hybrid.

We would like to see both the 2.5L hybrid and 2.5L plug-in hybrid offered so that our Cincinnati customers can choose the perfect powertrain for their individual needs. Traditional hybrids do not have to be plugged in or require any special considerations to drive but return significantly better fuel economy in all conditions. Plug-in hybrids have larger battery packs and upgraded electric motors, allowing them to travel on electricity alone and giving them more total horsepower. However, they need to be plugged in to recharge regularly to get maximum performance. Generally, plug-in hybrids are better for urban drivers, while traditional hybrids make more sense for high-mileage drivers.
