While there are many SUVs on the market, there aren’t many electric-only SUVs to choose from. It’s difficult to find a vehicle that can balance power, fuel efficiency, and space while remaining aesthetically appealing. While many SUVs do manage to offer power and space, fuel efficiency isn’t easy to come by. Now, thanks to the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E, you can find all these desired traits packed into one sporty SUV model.
Due to its all-electric technology, the new Mach-E can go up to 305 miles on a full charge. Plus, this model can hit 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. Ford makes it easy to save on fuel without sacrificing power or space, offering up to 60 cubic feet of cargo space in the new Mach-E model. In addition to these perks, Mach-E drivers get standard safety suites, multi-colored interior lighting, and hands-free driving, to name just a few features. All of this comes together to create the perfect SUV model, and we’re excited to give you an in-depth view of the 2022 Ford Mach-E SUV.

What kind of performance specs should you be expecting out of an all-electric SUV? While it’s tempting to set the bar low, a good electric SUV will still offer AWD capability, good range, and moderate horsepower ratings. The 2022 Mach-E has all of that. In fact, you can even purchase a GT trim and a GT “Performance Edition” Mach-E that offers above-average horsepower and torque ratings.
The base-level “Select” trim pumps out 266 horsepower with 317-pound feet of torque for RWD models and a max 428 pound-feet of torque rating for eAWD. This model is the most affordable trim option, but its range is a bit shorter than the max, falling to 230 miles RWD and 211 eAWD.
The California Route 1 trim is next on the list. It’ll produce 290 horsepower with RWD and up to 346 hp with eAWD. This one pumps out 217-pound feet of torque in RWD, and up to 428 lb-ft of torque with eAWD, showing a significant increase in power. Despite its power increase, you can actually go further on one charge in this trim than you can in the Select trim, with a 305-mile max range. This only declines 5 miles down to 300 when you choose the eAWD option.
The Premium Edition offers the same horsepower and torque specs, but its range falls to 300 RWD and 270 eAWD. However, it’s a bit cheaper than the California Route 1 trim.
The GT and the GT Performance Edition trims are designed with power in mind. They’re still all-electric; however, these trims offer a significant increase in power. Both offer 480 horsepower, while the GT edition pumps out 600 pound-feet of torque, and the GT Performance Edition maxes out at 634 pound-feet. Even with all that power, the GT Edition has a 270-mile driving range, while the GT Performance Edition falls closely behind at 260 miles.
All trim options come with optional eAWD, but the GT Editions are only available in eAWD with no RWD availability. The Mach-E’s diverse performance specs make it easy to choose between average commuting and performance driving. When you just like that Mustang feel, the first three times are ideal, but when it’s power you’re looking for most, the GT Editions are worthwhile.
The interior setup can define your final purchase decision. Even when the performance stats are great and the vehicle looks nice, the interior is what you’ll be seeing the most. So, it’s important that it suits you. The good news is that the 2022 Mach-E offers a spacious, convenient, and tech-savvy interior experience.
There’s plenty of room for cargo whether you have passengers or not. While electric models often offer less space due to the battery, the Mach-E’s battery is located under the floorboard. When there are only front-seaters in the Mach-E, you’ll get up to 59.7 cubic feet of cargo space. When everyone is loaded up, you’ll still get to use 29.7 cubic feet behind the rear seat.
There are several standard interior features on the Mach-E, such as a soft-touch leather steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, and front-door scuff plates. All trims include a heated steering wheel also, although the Select trim is only standard when you add on the Comfort/Technology Package. The same is true for heated front seating, a memory driver’s seat, and the cargo area cover.
SYNC 4 with Enhanced Voice Recognition and a Built-In Navigation system is standard across trims. Ambient color-changing lighting and Ford’s BlueCruise convenience technologies are only available on the top two trims. Overall, Ford offers several interior perks on the Mach-E, even for those who go with the lower-trim models.
When it comes to safety, Ford goes above and beyond with the 2022 Mach-E. Ford Co-Pilot360 comes standard across all trims. In fact, even the base-level Select model includes Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0, an upgraded version of the original system. On the Select alone, you can count on the following features:
Active Park Assist 2.0 and Ford BlueCruise are available on all models later than the base-level Select model. Active Park Assist 2.0 can automatically park the Mach-E on its own, specifically in parallel parking scenarios.
Ford BlueCruise is Ford’s new hands-free driving technology that includes “Blue Zones.” These zones mean it’s safe for the driver to completely keep their hands off the wheel. This technology is designed to relieve fatigue during long drives; however, it is NOT made so that the driver can fully remove their attention on the road. The system monitors you to ensure you are paying attention to the road ahead, so you are ready to take control again if necessary.
Safety is something that Ford is generous with, offering several standard driver assist features at no additional cost to the buyer. Even the lowest trims include all the popular and essential safety features. If you want to enjoy the benefits of Active Park Assist 2.0 and BlueCruise, however, you must pick one of the two highest trims.
