If you are looking for a compact SUV from a competitive manufacturer, then look no further than the 2020 Ford EcoSport. This vehicle is the ideal fit for anyone who wants to have the increased versatility that comes with SUVs but still save money. Even better, you’ll also be saving money on trips to fill up the tank since the EcoSport has fuel economy ratings that can match or better most gas-powered sedans out there. It is the perfect blend of affordability, adventure, and comfort all in one package.

The 2020 Ford EcoSport rounds out Ford’s impressive SUV lineup, which currently has five 2020 editions to choose from across the different available SUVs. The EcoSport is really able to shine in its class because while there are a lot of different options for compact SUVs out there, not all of them will come with an available 4WD system. To truly appreciate everything an SUV has to offer, it is essential that they come equipped with the necessary options and features that most people would associate with an SUV, and having a drivetrain that can handle off-pavement driving or adverse conditions is a huge part of that.

It makes sense that an SUV should either have AWD or 4WD capabilities, and it also makes sense for new vehicles to come with updated options and features that will make for a comfortable and secure ride for you and all of your passengers. This means an infotainment system that can easily interact with your own compatible devices, advanced safety features, and a versatile interior, which the 2020 Ford EcoSport has, and more. To check one out today, come down to Kings Ford in Cincinnati, Ohio, and take one out for a test drive.

  • Performance

A red and a blue 2020 Ford EcoSport are driving outside Cincinnati, OH, at night.

When it comes to compact SUVs, it’s a little up in the air on whether you should be expecting much in the way of performance. The small SUVs you can currently find in the market are more geared towards providing a comfortable ride with efficient mileage, and still allowing for you to head off on an adventure if you want to. The goal is similar with the 2020 Ford EcoSport, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have the necessary power to get around town or traverse rugged terrain.

    EcoSport Engines

The 2020 Ford EcoSport comes with two available engine options, depending on which trim level you are looking into. Your standard fare on the EcoSport S, SE, and Titanium trims is a 1.0L EcoBoost engine with Auto Start-Stop technology. It has an output of 123 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque and comes paired with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Standard on the EcoSport SES and an available option across all trim levels is a 2.0L Ti-VCT I-4 engine with Auto Start-Stop technology. This upgraded engine has an output of 166 hp and 149 lb-ft of torque and is paired with the same 6-speed automatic transmission.

The drivetrain on the EcoSport S, SE, and Titanium is FWD unless you opt for the available Intelligent 4WD System, which comes standard on the EcoSport SES. If you are looking for your compact SUV to have some additional traction when it needs it, it would be recommended to go straight for the EcoSport SES or opt for the Intelligent 4WD System on any of the other trim levels. The same recommendation would apply for the 2.0L I-4 engine if you are looking to have a bit more power under the hood. Overall, the EcoSport SES is barely $1,000 more than the EcoSport Titanium, so making that leap for a superior drivetrain and engine seems like a small price to pay.

  • Technology

A new vehicle wouldn’t quite seem so new if it didn’t come with all the latest technology features attached to it, or at least available on one of the existing models. These days, it’s important to have features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto because riding in the car has become so much more than just getting between different points on a map. Instead, it’s become an experience in itself that needs to be both entertaining and comfortable.

    Technology in the EcoSport

Most basic vehicle models don’t come with a lot of fanfare, which is exactly what you’ll see on the EcoSport S. It’s meant to be affordable, and it is. So you won’t be seeing a lot of extra features packed into it. Moving up just one trim level, though, to the EcoSport SE, you’ll find many additions. These additions include the SYNC 3 system that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with an 8-inch touchscreen, SiriusXM satellite radio, intelligent access with push-button start, and an available option for the voice-activated touchscreen navigation system. In addition to these features, including the navigation system as a standard option, the EcoSport Titanium also has a premium Bang and Olufsen Sound System with ten speakers, perfect for those fun, family road trips. The EcoSport Titanium and SES trims also come with a 110V power outlet in case you need some extra charging power for one of your many devices.

All 2020 Ford EcoSport models come equipped with the capabilities for FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi Hotspot. This makes it easy to work on the go or simply stay connected as you are away from home by taking advantage of FordPass Connect app features and 4G LTE Wi-Fi internet service from AT&T.

  • Safety

An orange 2020 Ford EcoSport is driving on a highway at dusk.

Safety has ever been a paramount concern for most consumers out there, and rightly so. Without safety, no other features in a vehicle matter - staying safe is the most important part of driving. As technology progresses, drivers have more and more distractions while they are driving. However, also with modern technology, we have more safety features than ever before to make sure you and your passengers are well protected while driving in your vehicle.

    Staying Safe in the EcoSport

Security measures like remote keyless entry and SecuriLock Passive Anti-Theft System have been put into place across all trim levels on the 2020 Ford EcoSport to make sure you can feel more secure and comfortable. Configurable daytime running lights, a tire pressure monitoring system, and more than six different airbags are also part of the standard package.

With Ford Co-Pilot360 technology, you can feel even more secure. Hill-start assist and rear view cameras are standard across all trims and have been put into place to make it easier for you to drive when hills are involved or when you’re backing up. Some of the more advanced features, like reverse sensing system, rain-sensing wipers, and blind-spot information system (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert can be found on the EcoSport Titanium and SES. While these driver-assistive technologies aren’t actually necessary to have a safe driving experience, they sure can help out in different situations, which is never a bad thing.
