Over the past few years, midsize trucks have become more popular than ever, and it is easy to see why with the 2024 Ford Ranger. Fully redesigned and all-new for the 2024 model year, the Ranger is better than ever, with fantastic options for power and performance, amazing capability, and unmatched off-road potential thanks to the legendary Raptor trim. If you need the kind of power and towing that only a full-size model can deliver, then the Ford F-150 is a great choice; for a truck that can fit easily into any lifestyle and deliver an amazing driving experience, the 2024 Ranger is the way to go.
The standard engine in the 2024 Ranger is the tried and true workhorse we've seen in this truck for several years now: a 2.3L turbocharged beauty that delivers plenty of power for getting work done and enjoying the weekend. One of the things we are most excited about this year, however, is the new 2.7L turbocharged V6 engine available for the Ranger, giving you 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque for incredible performance. Both engines are paired with a responsive ten-speed automatic transmission that always affords a gratifying drive.
In terms of off-road potential, there has never been a better time to check out the Ranger, thanks in large part to its incredible Raptor trim. The Ranger Raptor has a monster of a 3.0L V6 engine for profound power, aided by class-exclusive 2.5-inch FOX Racing Shocks to ensure you stay in control no matter how rough the terrain gets. With available beadlock-capable wheels and 33-inch all-terrain tires, the Raptor is ready to take you anywhere you can imagine. No matter which trim you choose, you will get a fantastic driving experience with standard features that include a 10.1-inch infotainment display and an 8.0-inch digital gauge display—plus, you can upgrade with options like a 12.0-inch infotainment screen and a ten-speaker B&O sound system.

One of the ways the 2024 Ford Ranger is better than ever is thanks to the incredible selection of engines available, delivering power that you rarely see in a midsize truck. This gives you the freedom to get the right level of performance for what you need without going overboard or feeling inadequate. This standard engine is the same as last year's model, which is great because it was already fantastic; you get a 2.3L EcoBoost Turbo I-4 that delivers 270 hp with a torque of 310 lb-ft, giving you plenty of muscle for a truck like this.
If you want improved power and greater performance, invest in the newly available engine to take things to the next level; this is a 2.7L EcoBoost Turbo V6 that provides 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, giving you a tremendous amount of power that is perfect for both work and play. These two engines both come with a class-exclusive ten-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that makes the Ranger a thrill to drive. Not having to worry about getting a good transmission makes it a lot easier to shop for the features and power you need while being confident that you will get something great no matter what.
Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Ford Ranger, with four-wheel drive available with either engine, giving you impressive traction in rough and slippery conditions. The Ranger can handle up to 7,500 lbs of maximum towing capacity when properly equipped. Whether you need to haul some tools and supplies to a job site or get a boat to the river for the weekend, the Ranger has you covered.
A third, more-powerful engine is exclusive to the Ranger Raptor, which turns this truck into a high-performance off-road beast, making it the perfect choice if you are looking to hit the trail. This 3.0L EcoBoost Turbo V6 gets 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque and comes with the same ten-speed automatic transmission as the standard Ranger. The Raptor, however, is so dedicated to off-road performance that it will only come in a four-wheel drive configuration—your gain.
Any Ford Ranger can be a great choice for some light off-roading, but if you are interested in tackling some very challenging trails, then you owe it to yourself to check out the Ranger Raptor. Standard Ranger models are offered with four-wheel drive (4x4) available, which is a great way to put together a midsize pickup that can handle dirt or gravel roads and trails with ease. A Ranger with 4x4 is the perfect choice if you like to go camping and want a truck that can safely get you to your favorite campsite, particularly if you choose a model with the available 2.7L engine that delivers 315 hp for added performance.
If you want to do some serious off-roading, however, you should take a look at the Ranger Raptor and everything it brings to the trail. For starters, the Raptor features an exclusive 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 that delivers incredible power and torque; this is by far the most dominant you can get in a Ranger, and it ensures the Raptor can tackle anything the trail throws at you, with plenty of grit to push through even the trickiest terrain. The Raptor also comes with a Watts-link rear suspension and 2.5-inch FOX Racing Shocks with Live Valve technology at all four wheels, providing you with 10.7 inches of ground clearance.
The Raptor has locking front and rear axles, giving you the ability to adapt to just about any situation, with available beadlock-capable wheels and 33-inch all-terrain tires. Perhaps most exciting of all, you get the new MyMode technology in the Ranger Raptor, which lets you adjust settings for the steering, suspension, and exhaust depending on what you need from your truck. With this MyMode system, you can control all of these things through inputs on your steering wheel, letting you stay focused on the trail while still adapting quickly on the fly.
When Ford announced that the 2024 Ranger would be an all-new model with major changes inside and out, we expected to see some impressive technology packed into it, but we were not prepared for just how remarkable it is. For starters, there is the standard 10.1-inch infotainment display that dominates the center stack of the Ranger. This new screen comes with Ford's Sync 4A infotainment system, which is quick, easy to use, and includes voice-activated technology that fits seamlessly into your daily life. This touchscreen pairs with a standard 8.0-inch digital gauge display to give you two means of managing your media and metrics.
Of course, these are just standard features—available options have been designed to elevate your experience and take the Ranger's technology to the next level. For example, you can get a massive 12.4-inch infotainment system that is vertically oriented for easier visibility and functionality, providing you with a stunning display for use with the Sync 4A system. When you pair this with the available 12.4-inch digital gauge display, then you get two screens that offer easy visibility so you can read them quickly with just a brief glance. An available wireless charging dock makes it easy to keep compatible devices charged, while the available ten-speaker B&O sound system with a subwoofer elevates your driving experience even further.
One of our favorite new features is the available Zone Lighting system, which lets you activate a variety of exterior lights to illuminate the area around your truck. This is perfect for giving you extra light at a job site after the sun goes down or for setting up a campsite if you get there a bit later than you planned. There is also 400 watts of in-bed power available with the Ranger, which includes a standard outlet you can use to charge a laptop or plug another piece of equipment in when you need it. All of this comes together beautifully to create a midsize truck with everything you could possibly ask for.
