Next up, you have the 400-horsepower 3.0L turbo V6 that gives you the highest tow rating. Finally, if you are concerned about fuel economy, you are going to want to go with the 3.3L hybrid V6 engine. The hybrid engine will give you an average fuel economy of 27 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway, which is ideal for those who pack a lot of driving into their days.

The Ford Expedition

The 2023 Ford Expedition is the biggest Ford SUV currently available and also comes with many trims so you can have a personalized vehicle. No matter the trim, though, the Expedition stands out as one of the best vehicles for families, especially those who like to go on exciting adventures. If you and your family find yourself following tougher paths to your destination, you’ll want to look at the Timberline trim, but others will be equally happy with the KL, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, or Platinum.

The Ford Expedition has two engines to choose from that both deliver high levels of power. The first is a 3.5L turbo V6 that produces up to 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. This engine is a respectable choice that is sure to get you where you need to go, whether that’s the grocery store, your kid’s next sports practice, your carpool group to work, or the whole family to your outdoor camping adventure.

However, the 3.5L high-output turbo V6 is the engine that will let you trek into the wilderness, the desert, or snowy terrain. With 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, this engine is hard to pass up. Independent front and rear suspension keep the ride smooth, though, so you can feel like you are traveling in luxury no matter the outside conditions.

The Expedition’s storage space is exceptional, with up to 104.6 cubic feet of storage space in the regular models or up to 121.5 cubic feet in the MAX editions. Plus, the Expedition can tow up to 9,300 pounds. With that, you can take a boat down to the water or a trailer into the forest. Nothing gets left behind with the Ford Expedition.

The Ford Bronco

The Ford Bronco (as opposed to the Bronco Sport, a crossover SUV) has gone through extreme durability testing to make it one of the most powerful vehicles on the market, capable of going where few other SUVs can. The Bronco name itself comes with history as it was Ford’s first SUV.

The 2023 Ford Bronco comes with your choice of a 2.3L turbo I-4 that produces 300 horsepower or a 2.7L turbo V6 that generates 330 horsepower. Every model comes equipped with G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) modes, though the number of them available varies depending on trim and configuration. With these modes, you can tweak your Bronco’s steering and output to be able to handle any terrain you come across.

The Bronco’s design allows you to bring along whatever you need. For instance, you can outfit it with roof racks to strap on your kayak so you can take it to rapid waters and tailgate storage so you can safely store any smaller items you want along on the ride. Depending on your passenger and storage needs, you can get the Bronco in a two-door or four-door configuration.

Despite its applicability to adventures, the Bronco is great for local driving, too. As it’s a little smaller than the Explorer and Expedition, tighter streets won’t pose much of a problem.
