Here’s Your Definitive 2024 Ford F-150 Trim Guide

When shopping around for a 2024 Ford F-150, it’s not a matter of choice ‘A’ or ‘B.’ Instead, it’s more like choices ‘A’ through ‘H’ as there are eight trims to choose from, not counting special editions or packages, and a host of available features and add-ons to compare and contrast. There’s a lot to consider, so if you’re looking for a Ford F-150 for sale in Cincinnati, take a moment and read what we have to say, and save yourself some time when you come looking for your next truck at King’s Ford. Here’s your definitive 2024 Ford F-150 trim guide.
XL
The XL is the base F-150 trim, with a starting price of $36,875.[a] The 2024 F-150 XL has many changes against the XL trim from the prior year. Gone is the 3.3L V6 engine, and in its place is the once optional turbocharged 2.7L V6 engine, granting the 2024 F-150 XL fantastic performance: 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, along with maximum towing and payload capacities of 8,400 lbs and 1,785 lbs, respectively. The turbocharged engine coming standard with the XL is a large bonus for base-level performance. Speaking of bonuses, it’s worth knowing the XL features a standard Class IV Trailer Hitch, so you don’t need to worry about supplying one yourself.
With the XL, the feature-complete 12-inch infotainment center (SYNC 4) and 12-inch Productivity Screen serve as your digital dashboard. The infotainment center offers wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 5G connectivity for the incorporated mobile hotspot. These helpful connectivity features allow you to keep up with everything in your life, from taking important work calls on the road to asking your AI assistant what the score of the latest Cincinnati Bengals game is.
Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 also comes standard with the 2024 F-150 XL, granting you access to Ford patented features like a Lane Keeping System, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, and more.
STX
The trim following the XL is the STX—the new kid in town for the 2024 model year. The STX starts at $44,000, so it’s pricier than the XL.[a] However, the price jump is warranted, with the STX offering features like the available 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine, commonly known by its alias: the “Coyote.” The Coyote engine ushers a stark performance leap over the turbocharged V6 engine of the XL, with the Coyote engine pulling a mean 12,900 lbs as its towing capacity and 2,230 lbs for the payload limit. There’s also a knob allowing you to shift between selectable drive modes, allowing you to change your vehicle’s handling depending on variables like rain, mud, sand, snow, and more. The 20-inch aluminum wheels painted in dark gray add a slight bump in overall aesthetics, and the larger wheels give the truck a more pronounced appearance.
With the STX, you gain access to the trim-exclusive STX Black Appearance Package. The STX Black Appearance Package replaces the dark gray wheels with an even sleeker set of wheels painted glossy black. In contrast, the tailgate, bodyside decals, and exhaust tips are all painted in matte black, lending the truck a varied appearance that makes it stand out amongst the other trims. With the Mobile Office Package, you can turn your F-150’s center console into a large surface area to accommodate you during the workday—laptops, tablets, clipboards, folders, binders, you name it.
XLT
The 2024 F-150 XLT starts at an MSRP of $47,730 and offers many upgrades over the previous two trims.[a] The turbocharged 2.7L V6 engine comes standard, and not only can you opt for the 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 Coyote engine, but you can also opt for a turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine that provides the 2024 F-150’s best-in-class towing performance at a maximum capacity of 13,500 lbs. Alternatively, you could opt for a hybrid powertrain with the XLT, taking the available 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6.
If you’re off-roading, the XLT isn’t a bad option if you opt for some of the available features, such as the available Electronic-Locking Rear Differential, six drive modes—or seven if you opt for four-wheel drive (4WD)—and 4WD models also come with All-Terrain tires for good measure. However, one of the XLT’s greatest strengths is in its towing, as not only is the maximum towing capacity achievable with this trim with that 3.5L V6 engine, but you also get Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trailer Reverse Guidance, both utilized while aligning and hitching your cargo and interacted with via the infotainment center. However, the fantastic tech amenities don’t stop there, with Ford BlueCruise—Ford’s first true hands-free driving technology—coming as an available option with the XLT, along with available luxury comforts like a Bang & Olufsen sound system, Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control, Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start, and much more.
Tremor
The 2024 F-150 Tremor starts at an MSRP of $64,260, meaning it’s another price leap over the prior trim.[a] The Tremor earns high praise for its array of tech features out of the gate and even greater off-road capabilities. 4WD comes standard with the 2024 F-150 Tremor, and skid plates also come included, attributing not only to the truck’s looks but also keeping it safer from damaging your paint from debris—rocks, sand, anything you may encounter in off-road scenarios.
With the assistance of standard Trail Control, your F-150 becomes incredibly easier to navigate off-road trails, with Trail 1-Pedal Drive allowing you to better maintain speed while climbing and Trail Turn Assist providing better steering by dynamically adjusting the brakes on a turn. All of the off-roading-focused features of the 2024 F-150 Tremor are complemented by its sizable 33-inch all-terrain tires. You also can opt for the available Modular Front Bumper, which allows you to customize and add amenities to your bumper, such as a winch mount to make climbing steep and slippery terrain easier.
Lariat
The 2024 F-150 Lariat has a starting price of $65,305, making it only marginally pricier than the Tremor.[a] With the Lariat, even more luxurious features become available. For example, you can opt for the best rendition of Ford Pro Power Onboard: a 7.2-kW generator and power outlet integrated into the truck’s bed, making the Lariat an extremely well-suited truck for workers. Why not use the generator on your day off, too? Use it for tailgating in the Great American Ball Park parking lot with your friends on the weekend. With the Lariat, you can also get the available Pro-Access Tailgate, allowing you to open your truck bed door horizontally for easier access; it also comes with the Bed Utility Package, which adds a work surface to the tailgate, along with a step, four tie-down plates and LED lights for the bed.
Some premium features you can get with the Lariat include the available Head-Up Display, a 14-speaker B&O Unleashed sound system, and Adaptive Cruise Control. These are excellent additions to the extensive list of safety features already included with each trim, including the Lariat, among everything else. The Head-Up Display is particularly useful, projecting your speed and other metrics onto your windshield without obstructing your vision, keeping you from needing to take your eyes off the road.

King Ranch
As the F-150’s luxury trim, the 2024 F-150 King Ranch starts at an MSRP of $73,845.[a] The King Ranch comes with many features that make the Lariat so great, albeit now standard, such as the B&O Unleashed sound system. What makes the King Ranch go above and beyond the previous trims are the premium luxury features appointing every inch of its interior cabin: a heated, authentic leather steering wheel with power tilting functionality, heated and ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad,
With the King Ranch, you also get the Tow-Haul package included. The Tow-Haul package adds several towing-focused changes, including available onboard scales, meaning you can check the weight of your cargo in real-time. Because the 3.5L V6 engine comes standard with the King Ranch, this means that, combined with the Tow/Haul package, you’ll have a 3.55 electronic-locking rear axle. The King Ranch also has a couple of design tweaks, notably a more rounded-off hood and a radiator-style grille.
Platinum
Like the 2024 F-150 King Ranch, the Platinum trim starts at an MSRP of $73,845.[a] With the Platinum, there are some fantastic additions, like multi-contour seats with a distinct design unlike any of the other trims we’ve mentioned so far. Not to mention, the seats include Active Motion, meaning it’s the first seats we’re discussing that massage you while you’re driving, including your back and legs. Like the STX we mentioned earlier, the Platinum comes with wheels painted glossy black, except this time, that same glossy aesthetic can be found elsewhere, like the grille.
If you buy the Platinum, you can also opt for the Platinum Plus, the best equipment group you can get for the Platinum trim. With Platinum Plus, you get various exterior enhancements, including platinum badging and an exclusive “Platinum Plus” theme both inside and outside the truck. The instrument panel also becomes leather-wrapped, and the 7.2-kW Pro Power Onboard generator comes included, in addition to a wheel well liner that’s immensely helpful during heavy rainfall and driving through puddles. With the Platinum Plus equipment group, you also get quilted floor mats with an intricate design replicated in each seat.
Raptor
The Raptor is the pinnacle trim level every off-road fan dreams of, the ultimate expression of power for the Ford F-150. The 2024 F-150 Raptor starts at a warranted MSRP of $78,440 and features some of Ford’s most advanced features for traversing the trails.[a] It all starts on the outside with skid plates all around: available heavy-duty skid plates protect the engine and the front of the truck, while the standard skid plates cover the transfer case, fuel tank, and front differential. The Raptor also has specially crafted shock absorbers in the front and back, with available dual-live valve shocks providing exceptional off-roading results alongside the Raptor’s astonishingly large 37-inch all-terrain tires.
Other off-roading features found on the Raptor include the aforementioned standard Ford Trail Control, a Hi-Lock Transfer Case, and what is perhaps the star of the show, a supercharged 5.2L “Predator” V8 engine that comes exclusive Raptor R. With the supercharged 5.2L V8 engine, the 2024 F-150 Raptor R outputs a monstrous 720 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque, placing it hundreds of horsepower higher than the second-most-powerful engine for the 2024 F-150. If you’re an off-roader near Cincinnati, while there may not be the most treacherous trails in the country, you can expect driving in areas like Belletti Boulevard to be smooth and enjoyable.
