For more than 40 years, the Ford F-150 has been the best-selling truck in America; that’s the kind of legacy you can’t just fall into or get with luck. It has to be earned from the beginning, and only hard work and incredible engineering will allow you to maintain it, proving the kind of work that Ford puts into keeping the F-150 the most impressive truck on the road. If you’re looking for a Ford F-150 for sale near Loveland, then you probably already know how remarkable this pickup is; on the other hand, you might’ve just started checking out what this truck has to offer. One of the best ways to fully appreciate what the F-150 can do is to compare it to its most popular competitor: the Chevy Silverado 1500.

#1 – More Powerful Engines (Including a Remarkable Hybrid)

When you’re looking for a great full-size truck, few things are as important as the engine that you get—we could argue it’s the single most important detail. Both Ford and Chevy clearly understand this because they offer a number of engines for you to choose from; while Chevy does its best to deliver impressive power, they just can’t keep up with Ford. For example, the standard engine for the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 is a 2.7L TurboMax I-4 engine that offers 310 hp. That’s quite good, but the standard 2.7L EcoBoost turbocharged V6 on the Ford F-150 gives you 325 hp, showcasing how well Ford understands their truck’s engines.

From there, Chevy’s second engine is an available 5.3L V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, which is fine but not that impressive. The second option for the Ford F-150 is a 5.0L V8 engine that provides 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque; you can see how much more powerful that is. Chevy does get things figured out with their third option, however: a 6.2L V8 engine that provides 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Overall, this is the best engine available for the Silverado 1500 and the one that most folks who’re looking for big power will go for.

Ford’s answer to this engine is an incredible 3.5L EcoBoost turbocharged V6 that delivers 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. That’s slightly less horsepower but way more torque, providing you with a fantastic overall driving experience. There are two High Output engines available for the F-150, but since they’re only offered on the Raptor trims (including the 720-hp engine for the Raptor R), it seems unfair to Chevy for us to feature them. Still, you can already see the kind of robust power and performance offered by the F-150.

Finally, there’s a 3.0L Duramax turbo diesel engine available for the Silverado 1500, which provides 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. That torque is quite good, but it comes at the sacrifice of a lot of horsepower; we’re not sure that’s worth it. The F-150 no longer has a diesel engine available; instead, Ford offers a 3.5L PowerBoost turbocharged hybrid V6 engine that delivers 430 hp and an incredible 570 lb-ft of torque. You can see why Ford feels a diesel option is no longer needed when they can get this kind of massive performance with their advanced hybrid engineering. This is the perfect choice if you want a powerful truck for getting around Loveland each day, and you don’t have to worry about finding a station with diesel fuel.

#2 – A Standard 10-Speed Automatic Transmission

One thing we didn’t mention while looking at the engines on these trucks is the kind of transmission they come with—that’s because we’re doing so now. Every engine, including the standard 2.7L V6, for the Ford F-150 is paired with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that’s incredibly responsive. This is the perfect choice for a truck, and it provides a smooth driving experience, along with plenty of gears for all kinds of different driving situations. Whether you’re towing, getting to work in the morning, or heading to your favorite campsite, this is perfect.

The 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500, on the other hand, pairs an eight-speed automatic transmission with its standard engine. This is surprisingly underwhelming; two extra gears might not seem like much, but it has a real impact on the kind of driving experience you get. Chevy clearly understands this because all of their other engines for the Silverado 1500 are provided with a 10-speed automatic transmission for a better drive. The fact that this is not the standard transmission on every model, however, is a big miss for Chevy.

#3 – Greater Towing Capabilities

Although we’ve already looked at the kind of performance the engines provide with these trucks, power and torque are about more than just how a truck handles. The powertrain and overall engineering also come together to establish how much work you can do with your pickup. Looking at the Chevy Silverado 1500, its available 6.2L V8 engine lets it haul up to 13,200 lbs behind it, while maximum towing comes from its diesel engine at 13,300 lbs. By comparison, the Ford F-150, with its 3.5L turbocharged V6 engine, can tow up to 13,500 lbs behind it when properly equipped. We’ll admit that’s not a huge difference, but it’s still noteworthy, and it shows you how committed Ford is to making the most powerful, capable truck on the road.

#4 – Higher Payload Rating Too

As you know, the kind of work you can do with your truck isn’t just about the weight you can tow around Loveland each day—how much you can load onto your pickup is just as important. The Chevy Silverado 1500 has a maximum payload capacity of 2,260 lbs with its standard engine, which is good, but it means you give up a lot of payload capacity if you prefer greater towing and vice versa (the best engine for towing tops out at less than 2,000 lbs of payload). With the Ford F-150, however, the engine that offers the best towing also has the highest payload rating with 2,440 lbs of maximum payload. So, you can load up more weight onto the Ford F-150 when properly configured, and one engine works equally well for towing and getting other work done.

#5 – Superior Standard Interior Features

One thing we like about both the 2025 Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado 1500 is they have a high number of different trim levels for you to choose from. This lets you get exactly what you want in your next truck, whether you prefer to focus on refined luxury in something like the F-150 Platinum or head off-road in an F-150 TREMOR model. Looking at starting features, both of these trucks work well as simple work trucks or when building a fleet since they have starting trims with straightforward features. That said, inside the Silverado 1500 WT (its starting trim), we find a seven-inch infotainment screen and a 3.5-inch monochromatic driver display. Inside the F-150 LT (its standard model), you get a more impressive standard 12-inch Digital Productivity Screen that makes it easy to keep track of vehicle data, plus a 12-inch SYNC 4 infotainment system that is perfect for staying connected to others and using different features of this truck.

The Ford F-150: the Perfect Truck for Loveland Drivers

We didn’t even get into a whole host of other features and available options like the Pro Power Onboard system that lets you easily use the F-150 to provide power for external devices and equipment, even at remote job sites, or the available BlueCruise hands-free driving system.
