6 Upcoming Cincinnati Events We’re Excited For

I don’t know about you, but as the weather starts to warm up (and cool off again and warm up again…), I start chomping at the proverbial bit to get out and have some fun. I enjoy the holidays and winter well enough, but late spring and summer is when Cincinnati comes to life in ways you just can’t find during the colder months. At least that’s how I feel, and from chatting with many of you, I know I’m not alone.

Here at Kings Ford, we got to talking recently about some of the upcoming events here in Cincinnati scheduled for the next few months and realized there is a lot going on. With so much happening, it can be easy to miss out on something big and only find out about it after the fact. We thought it would be fun to help some of you avoid that regret by talking about some of the upcoming events we’re most excited about. There is a lot more going on, but these are just the ones that first sprung to mind.

Cincinnati Dessert Festival – May 17th

If you have a sweet tooth, then you definitely want to mark your calendars for the first-ever Dessert Festival here in Cincinnati––that’s “dessert,” not “desert.” Don’t worry; this isn’t a celebration of vast expanses of sand with little moisture. Instead, it is a festival all about delicious treats with sample desserts from more than 20 of Cincinnati’s best bakers and confectionary geniuses.

The first annual Cincinnati Dessert Festival is being held on Sunday, May 17th from 11 am to 3 pm. Tickets are just $15, and that includes more than 20 different dessert samples, so make sure you arrive hungry. Children can attend for free, but you’ll need to buy a ticket for them if you want them to have their own samples. The Cincinnati Dessert Festival will be held at Rhinegeist on Elm St. in Cincinnati and is sure to be a deliciously good time.

43rd Annual Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance – June 14th

Desserts are great, but we’re a car dealership, so you know one of the events we’re most excited about is the Concours d’Elegance here in Cincinnati. This is a nationally recognized car show that includes some of the most impressive cars and motorcycles of all time. Two hundred of the finest collector vehicles ever made will be on display in a gorgeous location with brunch and a beer garden just for good measure.

The 43rd Annual Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance will be held on Sunday, June 14th, at Ault Park. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for students with a school ID, and free for kids ages 12 and under. The show opens at 10 am with different events throughout the day, including brunch from 11 am to 1 pm, and ends at 4 pm. Advance tickets are available now and discounted until the end of May.

Anime Ohio – June 27th

Anime fans here in Cincinnati, you definitely want to mark your calendars for this year’s Anime Ohio show––one of the biggest anime events of the year. Although the full lineup of guests has not yet been announced, one of the headliners includes Erica Schroeder, who has provided voices for hundreds of characters in Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and many more anime shows, movies, and video games. There will be more guests announced, along with plenty of distributors, exhibitors, and collectors to meet at the event.

Anime Ohio will be held on Saturday, June 27th, at the Sharonville Convention Center on Chester Rd here in Cincinnati. Tickets are available now: general admission is just $20 per ticket, while early bird VIP tickets are $40 each. Anime Ohio will go from 10 am to 7 pm and is sure to be a can’t-miss event for fans of anime, manga, and Japanese video games.

LaRosa’s Balloon Glow – July 3rd

We can’t think of a better way to really celebrate summer than LaRosa’s Balloon Glow, an annual hot air balloon show at Coney Island. There will be numerous events during LaRosa’s Balloon Glow, including the exhibition of many hot air balloons illuminated against the night sky, offering a one-of-a-kind experience for the entire family. There will also be a grand finale, including a fireworks display over Lake Como, so make sure you put this one on your calendar.

LaRosa’s Balloon Glow will be held on Friday, July 3rd, at Coney Island, and it goes from 5 pm to 11 pm. Admission is free, though parking is $10 per vehicle until 2 pm and $15 after 2 pm. Other attractions and rides at Coney Island may have other fees, however, but seeing the balloons and fireworks is free, other than parking.

Water Lantern Festival – July 11th

If you prefer your evening light shows a bit smaller, then check out the Water Lantern Festival this summer, here in Cincinnati. This is a gorgeous display of water lanterns flickering in the evening and creating a luminous experience unlike anything else. Adult tickets include a wristband for entry, a floating lantern kit, and an LED candle, plus it helps pay for the lantern retrieval and clean-up after the event.

The Water Lantern Festival will be held on Saturday, July 11th, at Eden Park here in Cincinnati. While early bird ticket sales have ended, you can still get tickets for just $36, or for $46 the day before the event. Day-of tickets will cost $56; gates open at 6 pm with food and music, then the lantern launch starts at 9:15 pm.

Crafted Cincinnati – July 18th

For lovers of craft beers looking to enjoy the summer, you definitely want to check out Crafted Cincinnati. More than 50 locally crafted beers and food from numerous local restaurants will be on offer along with live music. This is definitely a can’t-miss event for beer lovers, but the food is also always delicious. Please remember to enjoy these fine craft beers responsibly, and never operate a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Crafted Cincinnati will be held on Saturday, July 18th, at Sawyer Point Park. The event goes from 4 pm to 8 pm, and general admission tickets are just $15 with additional costs for a la cart tasting. You can also purchase one of several different packages that include tastings of food and the amazing craft beers. This is a 21 and over ONLY event, so no kids at this one.
