The 2021 Ford Bronco has been a long time coming. Drivers who have been around for a while may remember the big, boxy Broncos of the past and wonder why there is so much excitement is about resurrecting that beast of a vehicle. Rest assured, the Bronco of the new millennium is an entirely different machine that builds on the original 1966 Bronco is a dedicated off-road design. The smaller Bronco Sport is a more traditional compact SUV, but it also comes ready to explore the wilderness.
Among the off-road features of the new Bronco is its G.O.A.T modes, which stands for Goes Over Any Type of Terrain. Most trims have five standard drive modes for Sand, Slippery, Sport, Eco, and Standard. Available modes on higher trims include Mud/Ruts, Rock Crawl, and Baja. You'll also have best-in-class angles and clearance, with a departure angle of 37.2 degrees, a breakover angle of 29 degrees, and an approach angle of 43.2 degrees. The Bronco's ground clearance measures in at 11.6 inches, with a water-fording depth of 33.5 inches. With a removable roof and removable doors, you'll have all of nature at your command, no matter where you and your Bronco may roam.

The Broncos is equipped with a standard 2.3L EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine, which provides 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, though a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 is available with even more oomph at 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle also features your choice of a segment-first seven-speed manual transmission or a segment-first ten-speed automatic transmission - either way, you're ahead of the pack.
Two-door and four-door versions of the Bronco will be available. The second-row seats in the two-door models will feature a 50/50 split-fold, while the second row of the four-door models will have a 60/40 split-fold, providing the right amount of space for the toys and goodies you plan to take along on your adventures.
Trims offered will include the Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and First Edition. Each trim is unique, with features that reflect its daredevil attitude. For example, the Black Diamond trim is washout ready, with rubberized flooring and drain plugs, as well as marine-grade vinyl seats so that nothing gets damaged when the going gets wet. The Badlands trim includes advanced 4x4 all-wheel drive with automatic On Demand engagement and a two-speed transfer case. The Wildtrak trim adds the Sasquatch Package standard, which puts the Bronco on 35-inch tires with 17-inch beadlock capable wheels, adds front and rear locking differentials, and includes Bilstein position-sensitive shocks.
The smaller Bronco Sport is offered in five trims: Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, and First Edition. Like its big brother, it's also ready to go anywhere, with standard 4x4, G.O.A.T. modes, and H.O.S.S. suspension. H.O.S.S. stands for High-Performance, Off-Road, Stability, Suspension System, and includes front struts with hydraulic rebound stops, which makes off-roading more thrills and smiles and fewer aches and pains. It also includes 46 mm monotube rear shocks, softer springs, and anti-roll bars.
The standard engine in the Bronco Sport is a 1.5L EcoBoost engine, though a 2.0L EcoBoost engine is available and standard on the Badlands trim. The 1.5L engine offers 181 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque, while the mightier 2.0L engine comes in at 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. Though a bit smaller in dimension, the Bronco Sport is still a capable off-road monster. It is able to ford 23.6 inches of water and boasts a ground clearance of 8.8 inches.
